Interview with Giancarlo Veltroni, Chartered Accountant and member of the Scientific Committee of the Fimelato Foundation
1. Giancarlo, your career path is about numbers, strategy, and vision. But those who know you know you're also deeply sensitive. How important is it for you today to keep your head and heart together?
Our mind and heart, or rather, our soul, must always be active in our interactions with others. We must understand and listen to improve mutual understanding and communication.
2. You've experienced and led complex transformations. What have you learned about change—real change—that you'll bring to this new experience?
Change starts with us, and for that to happen, in any context, we need to positively engage people.
3. In your work, you've always placed great importance on education. How do you see the relationship between knowledge, awareness, and social responsibility?
Knowledge is knowledge; culture is awareness of socially responsible knowledge. These aren't slogans, but profound and complex commitments.
4. Giancarlo, you could have chosen many paths. What convinced you to say "yes" to the Fimelato ETS Foundation?
Was it a meeting of values, of people, or of vision?
A meeting initially of values and vision. We need kindness in this world of ours, and we must be contaminators of this value, for people and our children.
5. What should we expect from your joining the Foundation?
What issues are closest to your heart, and what do you feel you can contribute to immediately?
By joining the Foundation, I would like to offer my support so that it becomes increasingly effective and engaging for those who already participate and for those who will join in the future.
6. Is there a word from the Foundation that you already feel is yours – among kindness, elegance, beauty, and solidarity? And why?
Kindness and solidarity, beauty, and elegance are important concepts if they are internal and not just external appearances.
7. If I were to write a "new grammar" for the leadership of the future today, what three words would be essential?
Leadership is execution by example, setting a concrete example.
